Abstract

QMR-003 reconstructs a historical candidate numerical rule combining three surah-level quantities:

  • S: surah number
  • V: verse count
  • W: word count

The candidate rule is:

S - V - W congruent to 0 modulo 49

The meanings of S, V, and W are treated as reconstructed candidate semantics because the original historical specification was not independently recovered in full.

Under DATA-001, the result changes substantially between the two registered corpus views.

RAW matches: 2 surahs

  • Surah 16
  • Surah 95

BODY matches: 9 surahs

  • Surah 11
  • Surah 27
  • Surah 43
  • Surah 54
  • Surah 64
  • Surah 73
  • Surah 84
  • Surah 92
  • Surah 100

This strong RAW/BODY sensitivity prevents treating QMR-003 as a stable numerical structure under the current evidence.

The historical multiple-testing procedure was not recovered sufficiently to reproduce any statistical correction.

QMR-003 is therefore recorded as a rejected research claim, while preserving the deterministic calculation itself.

Research Question

For each of the 114 Quranic surahs, define the candidate reconstructed quantity:

R = S - V - W

where:

  • S is the surah number;
  • V is the number of verses in that surah;
  • W is the word count under the selected corpus view.

The tested condition is:

R % 49 = 0

The reconstruction asks:

  1. Which surahs satisfy the condition under RAW?
  2. Which surahs satisfy it under BODY?
  3. Is the result stable across the predefined corpus views?
  4. Can the historical statistical significance procedure be reproduced?

Dataset & Counting Rules

  • Dataset: DATA-001
  • Methodology: METHOD-001
  • Corpus: Tanzil Quran Text - Simple Clean - Version 1.1
  • Views: RAW and BODY
  • Surahs evaluated: all 114
  • Rule: S - V - W congruent to 0 modulo 49

RAW uses the source representation defined by DATA-001.

BODY removes the documented opening Basmala prefix from the first verse of 112 surahs while preserving all 6,236 verse identifiers.

No tolerance or approximate congruence is permitted.

Deterministic RAW Result

Under RAW, exactly two surahs satisfy the candidate rule.

RAW matches:

Surah
16
95

Therefore:

RAW match count = 2

This is a deterministic result under the DATA-001 RAW counting rules.

Deterministic BODY Result

Under BODY, exactly nine surahs satisfy the same candidate rule.

BODY matches:

Surah
11
27
43
54
64
73
84
92
100

Therefore:

BODY match count = 9

The match set is not a minor variation of RAW.

It changes from 2 matching surahs to 9 matching surahs.

RAW/BODY Sensitivity

The registered views produce:

View Matching surahs Count
RAW 16, 95 2
BODY 11, 27, 43, 54, 64, 73, 84, 92, 100 9

This difference is a major robustness limitation.

The formula is sensitive to whether the documented Basmala transformation is applied to the word counts.

Accordingly, QMR-003 does not survive the predefined RAW/BODY corpus-view control.

Historical Statistical Record

Historical notes associated with QMR-003 referred to a larger search involving approximately 2,673 candidate formulas.

However, the exact historical formula family, enumeration rules, selection process, and statistical correction procedure were not recoverable from the available repository history and surviving records.

For that reason, Coran Codex does not publish:

  • a corrected p-value based on 2,673 tests;
  • a claim that significance disappears after correction across exactly 2,673 formulas;
  • any reconstructed probability that depends on an unrecovered search family.

The number 2,673 is preserved only as part of the historical record.

It is not used as a verified statistical denominator.

Multiple Testing

QMR-003 combines several researcher-selectable elements:

  • surah number;
  • verse count;
  • word count;
  • arithmetic signs;
  • ordering of variables;
  • modulus;
  • RAW or BODY representation;
  • possible alternative formulas.

Without the exact historical candidate family, the effective number of opportunities for obtaining a numerical match cannot be reconstructed reliably.

A deterministic congruence match is therefore not equivalent to statistical significance.

Prior-Art Investigation

Numerical Quran research predating Coran Codex has combined quantities such as:

  • surah number;
  • verse count;
  • word count;
  • letter count;
  • sums and differences;
  • modular and divisibility relationships.

During the present prior-art search, no earlier source was located that states the exact QMR-003 rule:

S - V - W congruent to 0 modulo 49

This absence is not proof of novelty.

The novelty status remains:

Investigating

Interpretation Standard

Fact

Using the reconstructed candidate rule under DATA-001:

  • RAW matches = 2
  • the RAW matching surahs are 16 and 95
  • BODY matches = 9
  • the BODY matching surahs are 11, 27, 43, 54, 64, 73, 84, 92 and 100

The calculation itself is deterministic.

Statistical interpretation

No verified statistical significance claim is available.

The historical multiple-testing procedure is not recoverable.

The change from 2 RAW matches to 9 BODY matches demonstrates strong sensitivity to the registered corpus view.

Claim

Coran Codex successfully reconstructs and executes the candidate modulo-49 rule under both DATA-001 views.

The resulting match set is not stable across those views.

Not claimed

QMR-003 does not establish:

  • a statistically significant pattern;
  • a corrected result based on 2,673 verified tests;
  • robustness across corpus representations;
  • proof that the rule is historically novel;
  • supernatural origin;
  • divine intent or theological significance.

No supernatural or divine conclusion follows from this result.

Why the Status Is Rejected

The status Rejected does not mean that the arithmetic calculation is false.

The deterministic matches listed above are real outputs of the specified formula.

Rejected means that the broader research claim does not survive the current methodological controls strongly enough to be promoted.

The principal reasons are:

  1. the match set changes strongly between RAW and BODY;
  2. the historical multiple-testing procedure cannot be reproduced;
  3. the original search family is not recoverable;
  4. no calibrated statistical interpretation can currently be assigned.

Negative results remain part of the Coran Codex research record.

Limitations

The historical semantics of S, V, and W were reconstructed from surviving material and are not backed by a complete original protocol.

The exact historical formula family is unavailable.

The analysis is also sensitive to the word-count representation.

These limitations prevent strong inference from the congruence matches.

Verdict

Status: Rejected

Evidence level: E1

Classification: Exploratory

Novelty: Investigating

Discovery: No

The formula produces exact deterministic matches, but the result changes from:

RAW: 2

to:

BODY: 9

and therefore fails the current robustness expectation.
